The Jaiyla Image Release
The Jaiyla Image Release
Not a new situation for creatives but this may be for others who carry the similar DNA.
All at once and not at all, I watched as my work wither
from my crown jewel to the bottom of the barrel. Actually that feeling only comes up at the moment right before posting.
It all started with a simple request from my daughter and her friend Jaiyla. I was asked with girlish enthusiasm to photograph the both of them in their masquerade attire. I was onboard immediately.
Normally in my house if I'd like to be alone in a room all I have to do is ACT LIKE I'm about to take out my camera gear and suddenly I'm flying solo.
Just to have my daughter come to me with a new dress, heels, hair and amask, I couldn't resist that. (Que dad tears) There wasn't much to the setup for the indoor shots. I started off with a simple one light system. For Jaiyla
I ended up adding a second softbox in order to fill in
the shadows created by her deep skin tones. Outside
we just used the golden tones of the setting sun.
Combining that light with the textures, patterns, and colors of
the brick wall behind the girls it made a lot of sense to
pull them away from the background by adding blue
into the shadows of the of their clothes. I was really
pleased with the results.
The Follow-Up
Days later, I am still seeing the likes come in through it.
Been posting my personal dev projects to my personal
page. The pics have received the same exposure as all
the other shots. Not many re-posts but that's okay. Some
say the algorithm will only show to a select few. Which
really limits me only you to hardcore followers and family.
Love you guys.
